My first Mk7 Golf and my current Mk7 Golf both produce the same noise on starting, I haven't let it bother me. Overall I find the 1.4 TSI engine quite noisy, it sounds like a diesel engine compared to a Mk4 2 litre naturally aspirated engine. Just as well the cabin has such good noise insulation.
What I found first, is that I have misfires counters which increment when I feel little shake of the engine. I counted 15 misfires in about 2 minutes during my test at cold start. Here are the actual values of misfires counters: - Misfires cylinder 1: 1252. - Misfires cylinder 3: 1118. - Misfires cylinder 4: 1650. - Misfires cylinder 2: 941.

Problem solved! Just exchanged the 1.5TSI EVO within the dealers 30-day exchange period for a 2018 GTI DSG in Tornado red. I gave it a very thorough test this morning and the cabin sound difference is like night and day. I wasted 4 weeks with this 1.5 TSI but at least I am happy once again.
