Agreed, myself and friends used to play hotseat campaigns on kingdoms (multiplayer campaign on same pc) but total war have improved online campaign with every total war, probably peaking with Shogun 2/Rome 2/Attila. It would massively improve replayability if total war updated the online campaign feature across older games such as its About This Content. The Greek States Culture Pack adds a new playable Culture including three new playable Factions to Total War: ROME II; for use in Single or Multiplayer Campaign modes and Custom and Multiplayer Battles. The Greek States Culture Pack adds diplomatic Athens, shrewd Epirus and formidable Sparta as playable factions. Greek States is about the closest to an "essential" dlc for this. It's a bit anachronistic really but the Greeks are a firm favourite for many since the first game. By the way, to disable chat in game by region is only a toggled Greek City States dlc: decent factions, main selling point is Sparta. If you wanna play as Sparta, other two factions are lackluster. Nomadic tribes dlc: fun if you're really good with cavalry. Otherwise it's not. If you use these in multiplayer, you'll probably lose unless you can 1v2 opponents. Otherwise there is absolutely no purposefull meaning for setting up LAN based multiplayer games. In other words you are actually busy (waisting your time) with reinventing the wheel while there is zero need for it. 1 account = 1 player for Steam, so that could be the entire issue.
